In modern life, when the busy pace of life makes us sometimes forget the simple beauty of nature, I decided to spend a weekend camping and building a survival shelter with my dog. This is not only an opportunity to get close to nature but also a chance to bond with my loyal four-legged friend.
The trip started early in the morning, when the sun was still faintly on the horizon. I chose a small forest far from the city, where the space was quiet and the air was fresh. My dog, a Labrador named Max, was extremely excited. His bright eyes lit up with joy as he jumped around the bushes and weeds.
When I arrived, I started looking for a suitable location to build the shelter. A flat piece of land near a small stream was chosen, both with a water source and away from areas prone to landslides. I collected dry branches, large leaves and rocks for materials. Max, with his natural instincts, also contributed a lot by continuously bringing back small branches.
We started building the shelter by tying the branches into a sturdy triangular frame. Leaves were placed on top to protect against rain and wind. During the work, Max was always around, occasionally stopping to look at me as if to make sure I was doing it right. Perhaps, in his mind, this was also an interesting “survival mission”.
When the shelter was completed, Max and I sat under the shade of the tree, enjoying the food we brought. Max was rewarded with a special portion of food, and he chewed it deliciously with a satisfied look on his face. In the afternoon, we spent time exploring the surrounding area, walking along the stream and enjoying rare moments of peace.
As the sun began to set, I lit a fire in front of the shelter. The warm firelight danced in the darkness, creating a space that was both cozy and mysterious. Max curled up next to me, his ears still perked up, as if listening to every sound around him. Under the starry sky, I realized that joy doesn’t have to come from big things, but simply a day in nature, sharing a simple moment with a loyal friend.
Camping not only brought me relaxation, but also taught me a lot about survival skills, patience and unconditional friendship from Max. Experiences like this made me appreciate the beauty of nature and the value of the connection between humans and animals. And I’m sure Max felt the same, judging by the sparkle in his eyes and the constant wagging of his tail.
